A boutique festival by the international network of theatres PlayOn!
Technology has invaded every single facet of our day-to-day lives. Now it’s threatening theatre as well. What if the invasion already happened but instead of theatre becoming virtual, the opposite happened and theatre has molded technology according to its whims.
This is exactly what PlayOn!, a large-scale collaborative program, with support from Creative Europe, aims to understand. Over the last five years, they’ve tried it all – gamifying, code writing, app building and testing every imaginable XR solution there is. PlayOn! is reaching its finish line in the autumn of 2024, with partners from all across Europe gathering in Tallinn, at VAT, to wrap up and review.
It’s also a chance to show off all of these technological theatre experiences to the public. Four examples can be seen at the Sakala 3 Teatrimaja on September 8th and 9th.
