Based on a screenplay by Priit Pärn
Rising Violins takes us on a journey to discover the highs and lows in the lives of two twin brothers, born into this world as equals, in a fictional Japan where the poor, artistic twin can no longer find nourishment in poetry alone. In Japan—remember, this is just fiction—the Yakuza twin rules, and it seems inevitable that spiritual and corporeal powers clash. And there is no sign of solidarity not to mention brotherly love.
The parallels with real life are also coincidental. The core of “Rising Violins” is richer than the concerns that unfortunately remain topical in Estonian culture. In addition to the twins and many other characters, there is also Time, which runs at its own pace and speed.
Rising Violins is a physical theater performance with little spoken language. All dialogue on stage is in Japanese. The performance has English and Estonian subtitles.
The performance is in one act and lasts 1h and 20 minutes
Premiere: September 11th 2025 at the Sakala 3 Teatrimaja Black Box
The performance features stage smoke, flashing lights, and loud music
NB! Late admissions will not be admitted and the tickets will not be refunded.
