With its timeless themes, exciting plot and colourful characters, the youth novel ” Pal Street Boys ” by the great Hungarian writer Ferenc Molnar is firmly in the classics of children’s and young adult literature.

Every schoolboy in this adventure story has dreams and is full of determination to achieve them. The gripping story tells of young Hungarians who, in battles on the playground, carry the ideas of their country’s quest for independence. The story of the Pal Street boys and the Botanic Garden Redshirts fighting for the sawmill plot is a moving one, a reflection on respect and friendship and on “…what is life, for which we are all sometimes sad, sometimes happy, but always fighting servants.”. (F.Molnar)
