A BEE IN YOUR HEAD

A day in the life of a child through seven levels

The story starts, as they often do, in the morning.
The Sun rises. Really, slowly. The Sun is a flaming ball.
And as always, you sprout wings, and you turn into a bee.
You are in for a grand adventure both airborne and earthbound.
Your mission is to survive seven levels.
Seven levels through a seemingly ordinary school day.
If you succeed and make it to your bed by tonight,
you will be crowned champion!
However, if you fail, it doesn’t just suck,
it’s GAME OVER.

One of the most popular and prized German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig wrote about 50 plays for adults until he felt that he was ready to write for children. “A bee in your head” is his first piece for a younger audience and it has already been met with widespread acclaim.
Colorful, playful and raucous – this is a story of a child’s journey through their day, with shadowy motifs lurking around the edges – from loneliness, parental carelessness, real, physical dangers. The author has found a touching and clever way to connect a child’s fantasy with the strife of adult life, leaving no one in the audience untouched.

Suggested age: 9- 14 years

Premiere: April 20th, 2022, at the Sakala 3 black box

The translation of the piece was supported by the Goethe Institute.

NB! Late admissions will not be admitted and the tickets will not be refunded.
