- IMPROTHEATRE WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS
TARGET GROUP: Teachers and people working with youngsters. Group of 6-20 people

DURATION: 2.5h (150 minutes)
LOCATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Classroom or auditorium with an option to arrange an open space. Participants are recommended to wear trousers as it’ll be easier to perform the exercises.
GROUP FEE: 250€ (fuel cost will be added to events outside of Tallinn)
WORKSHOP CONTENT: The workshop will transport you into the world of improvisation where you’ll be able to try everything for yourself. Through playful exercises we’ll introduce you to key points of improv theatre. The magic of improv is created through noticing, listening, creating and trusting yourself as well as others. You’ll be creating characters, environments and plots. Main focus of the workshop is expanding the creative play space. The most important thing to learn about improv that there are no wrong answers and everything you might do is correct! The aim of the improv workshop is to learn to know yourself better, surprise yourself and your partners and discover an open and positive outlook on life. Furthermore, you’ll improve your teamwork skills and learn about a variety of new and exciting exercises and games. There is an option for a follow-up workshop where the focus will be on analysing and teaching improv. We’ll explore how to use improv as a tool and how to communicate and teach improv games.
THE COORDINATORS:
Mairi Tikerpalu is a professional actor and co-founder of Improv Theatre IMPEERIUM. In addition to that, she participates in projects in various Estonian theatre, television and radio productions as a freelance actress. She has graduated from University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy as an actress. She has taken numerous improvisation courses taught by internationally acclaimed teachers and instructors. Furthermore, she teaches improv classes at NUKU and Vol Glehn theatre. She has also worked with children as well as adults at different improvisation workshops, in summer camps and courses. Rauno Kaibianen is a professional actor and co-founder of Improv Theatre IMPEERIUM. He has graduated from University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy as an actor and taken numerous improvisation courses taught by internationally acclaimed teachers and instructors. Additionally, the is trained in commedia dell’arte and mask theatre fields. In his professional life, in addition to traditional and improv theatre, Rauno dabbles in visual, shadow, devised and puppet theatre. He has taught improvisation theatre at camps and hosted courses for people in all ages. Moreover, he teaches improvisation theatre at Viljandi Culture Academy for students of Theatre Studies. . CONTENTS: Forum theatre, created by Augusto Boali, is method theatre for the oppressed. The method will help with finding solutions to acute social issues through energising, empowering and inclusive activities. Educational workshop for forum theatre offers just one of the possible models of distributing knowledge that teachers, youth workers and other specialist are able to implement in their work. The workshop will mainly focus the theatrical games, exercises and other inclusive activities that are inherent to forum theatre and will encourage dialogue between people. The goal is for the group and each of the participants individually to experience the whole process. If the experience sparks someone’s interest, we offer follow-up courses that offer to experience the process in even more depth and to delve into implementing the forum theatre method into various educational fields. - CREATIVE WRITING FOR TEACHERS

CONTENTS: Creative writing can be a highly useful tool for a teacher, this will aid you in enriching your classes, connecting various subjects and interpreting ones work in general. The aim of the creative writing workshop is to offer the participants useful and playful tricks and tips to implement in their everyday work. During the session, you’ll work individually, as well as in a group to exchange experiences and get inspired by one another. This workshop is great for team building events because is gives the participants the opportunity to get to know each other from a creative viewpoint. Topics covered in the workshop: how to stimulate imagination, finding and developing inspiration, different stages of writing, giving feedback to student’s creative works. The creative writing workshop is meant for teachers of all subjects who believe that their students might benefit in their class by implementing creative approach. We welcome teachers of humanities, social studies, of science and of natural science.
NB! The workshop could be set up by a certain direction that will focus only on creative writing – the goal there would be to reach one or multiple text prompts that the participants could keep developing independently.
THE COORDINATOR: Mihkel Seeder is a playwright for VAT Theatre and a tutor at Drakadeemia creative writing school. Mihkel has graduated from University of Tartu in German and theatre studies as well as the Master’s programme at theatre pedagogy from Drama School at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He has also hosted workshops for Estonian Actors Union as well as for the Writers House. Mihkel is an active playwright and screenwriter. At VAT his creations include Web Demon, Mister Green and Artur Sirk’s Estonia. His screenwriting works include Free Men and Restart. Some of the plays at VAT that have been created thanks to his translations are Müller must go! And Pitch Black.
ADULTS CREATIVE WRITING VIDEO INTRODUCTION
- STAGE FIGHTING WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

LOCATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Classroom or an auditorium with option to create an open space. Participants are recommended to wear trousers as it’ll be easier to perform the exercises.

WORKSHOP CONTENT: The aim of the workshop is to give the participants an overview of a fairly new and special art form – film and stage fighting. It’s a rather controversial and magical field that looks forceful and violent on the outside but is very safe and flexible. Engaging in stage combat will boost your confidence, teach you how to read and trust your opponent and express your emotions through your body and voice. Stage combat will give you a chance to play through situations that rarely occur in everyday life. For instance – fighting with 3-5 opponents without any painful consequences regardless if you emerge from the fight a winner or loser. Combat as a choreography will develop and connect the participants and create a positive atmosphere. The workshop will culminate with an action scene directed by the participants.
THE COORDINATORS:
Kalle Kõiv is a certified instructor from the Nordic Stage Fight Society. He is also one of the founders of Estonian Stage Fight Society. He has 15 years of experience of being a director and manager of events at Valge Maja OÜ. He has directed many fight scenes for festivals, plays as well as films.
Tanel Saar is an actor at VAT Theatre and has created the choreography for stage fights for numerous plays. Tanel has over 10 years of experience in stage fighting. He has created fight scenes for many Estonian films and teaches stage fighting at schools.
