Workshop content: Any kind of creative writing can seem daunting at first. Especially playwriting can seem as a genre that requires very specific skills. The aim of the workshop is to give participants encouragement, and to open the door to the exciting world of playwriting.

A play is a wonderfully compact and active text where only a few lines can express a captivating story. We will look into topics like what do stories consist of; who are the characters; how to instigate an exciting situation; how to perceive the whole; how is it possible to bring a story to life. The playwriting workshop is useful for everyone who wants to develop their creativity and analytical skills. It also complements literature classes and helps the students to develop their self-expression skills which are useful in every subject and area of life.

Further possibilities: To those who are inspired by this workshop we also offer further options from interactive writing workshops to writers’ groups. We also offer more in-depth playwriting workshops.

Facilitator: Mihkel Seeder is a tutor at Drakadeemia which is a private creative writing school. He has experience in running writing courses for dramatists, script and prose writers; he has taught young people as well as adults. Mihkel is also a playwright and his writings have received awards in national contests. In 2014 his play “Pious Brother Vahindra” was produced in Estonian Road Museum.
